Castle Pines Village Metropolitan District Road System
The Castle Pines Village Metropolitan District is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and cleaning 90+ lane-miles of public roads within The Village at Castle Pines. This includes snow removal, street maintenance, and upkeep of street lighting along collector roads.
There are two main road types in The Village:
- Collector roads (24–28 feet wide)
- Local roads (20 feet wide)
While developers construct roads throughout The Village, the District monitors their design and construction, and assumes maintenance responsibility once roads are accepted. Roads that do not meet District standards remain the responsibility of private sub-associations.
Happy Canyon Road is maintained by the Douglas County Highway Department, not the District.
Over the years, the District has updated its roadway design standards to address safety concerns and respond to community growth. Today’s standards represent a balance between safety, environmental sensitivity, and long-term durability.
